9/2/10 - Carol G (edit)
Congratulations to all the winners in the Lad 'n Lassie tournament! We had outstanding participation in this year's event. Most of the credit goes to Mary Marble, who organized, and to Mary Jane who kept the emails coming. Since our playdays have been interrupted so many times, getting things together has presented unusual circumstances and it is only through dogged determination of these two ladies that Lad 'n Lassie was a success. Not to be forgotten-- the HH staff did their usual outstanding job in providing assistance. Many thanks to Yulanda and Martha for "beverage service" and Elaine Saltsman for the sausage pinwheels. Lastly, thanks to Elaine S, Juanita and Karin, who, even though not playing in the tournament, took care of check-in, clean up and all the other little details that made things run so smoothly.
8/16/10 - Mary Jane (edit)
Play for this Thursday, Aug.19th has been cancelled. Harpeth is asking all leagues to cancel play this week because of the condition of the greens. We'll keep you posted, but until then, pray for cooler weather!

Wow! It was great to be back at Harpeth Hills! Thanks,Jean, for a great job handling the Memorial tournament with little notice. Congratulations to Gail. There were some other really good scores today. We have rescheduled the Member/Guest for June 24th--I know MJ sent out an email to you-- so get busy and find a partner. We will have all the details posted next week. Mary Jane and I are kicking off the Match Play tournament tomorrow. The pairings are posted in the locker room-- check it out and try to get your match played this month.

I am so very disappointed that we will not be playing this week even though the course reopened today. The management requested that we delay league play another week. Since May 27 in an open date due to a previously planned course tournament we won't play again until June 3 at the earliest. A suggestion was made that perhaps we could play at Two Rivers. I will check on making several tee times for the May 27 playday. Will let you know what I find out!

The following paragraph was copied from the Nashville Fairways website today. We will send an email to membership to see how many members are available for play. Will keep you posted! "Harpeth Hills Golf Course will open on Wednesday, May 19th at 7:00am with limited play. We will assess the greens condition on a daily basis and adjust operation as necessary. Tee times can be made by calling 862-8493. Any changes to operation wl be posted on the web site daily."

The latest news regarding Harpeth Hills comes from Nashville Fairways. I try to check it everyday to see if the water restrictions have been lifted. Alas, HH is still closed due to the water restrictions. We have every hope that we will resume play by the end of the month but -----. As you know the Member/Guest is on the calendar for June 10th. We will reschedule it for a later date perhaps middle of July. Also the Memorial tournament, as well as Rally will need to be played on alternate dates. We will get though this difficult time and golf will be even better!
5/11/10 - Carol (edit)
The water situation at HH has still not been resolved and the course remains closed until further notice. Please keep checking back for updates. We will let you know as soon as we get the word. This has forced us to reschedule Rally for the Cure- we will try to get it back on the schedule as soon as possible. In addition to that delay, we have to work out the Match Play tournament. Once the pairings are set we encourage you to try to get your match in as soon as possible once the course is reopened. (consider playing it on a day other than playday).

Due to the circumstances-- flooding, extremely wet fairways, debris-- we have decided to cancel golf for this week. Some of you may not know that our pro Kevin lost everything in this devastating flood. Please remember him and his family in your prayers. As soon as we know more I hope that we will be able to assist him in some way.
5/3/10 - Carol (edit)
Mother Nature certainly dealt our area a blow this weekend. We have many friends who live in some of the most affected areas. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they go through the clean up process. As fellow competitors as well as friends, I hope that we as a group will be willing to step up to the tee and help in any way we can. I will try to keep everyone up to date as to the status of all members. Please keep us updated if you get news of anyone who has been affected by this disaster.

Watch out!! Judy is on a roll! She had a very nice 91 on playday and had a 30 for the game of the day. Way to go Judy-- Whoever draws you for their first match in the Match Play tournament which starts in May, had better bring their "A" game or the match will be over in 10 holes!!! (Hope I am not the unlucky victim to face Judy in the first round)

What a great day for golf!! We had 32 players hit the links today and there were some really good scores posted. Three ladies- Mary Jane Baldinge,Gail Smothers and Lynn Fritz- had nice rounds of 84. However, the real star of the day was Judy Duncan with her first ever under 100 game at Harpeth Hills. Congratulations for your round of 93 and an amazing game of the day score of 24!!

It was cold and rain was predicted at 70% but 23 avid lady golfers showed up for playday. The email system must work-- if you didn't get an email or a phone call then the game is on!!! Mary Jane made the right decision even if we did shiver our way around. Thanks to all who called to let us know you decided to stay home. It helps when we are reworking the pairings. See you next week! Thanks to Juanita for doing an excellent job in dealing with all the changes in pairings-- she called it "a rainy arrangement".

Hurrah!! Finally-- back playing golf! In spite of a little mix up regarding the tee time for the first day we are back on track. The tee time will be 8:30 until further notice. The pace of play was pretty good too and I think we all finished in under 4 1/2 hours. Welcome to our new members who played this week-- Peggy, Lynn,Yulanda,Sue and Brenna. Lynn has already found out that it pays to win closest to the pin!! Three members are recovering-- Jane Marcum from broken ribs, Linda Zeitlin from knee surgery, and Karin Rader with an elbow problem. Hurry and get well! Last note-- beware wayward shots. Jean Walls may be sporting a bruise. She can give you details!
